DED releases April 2012 jobs report

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri’s non-farm payrolls added 6,000 new jobs during April 2012 on a seasonally-adjusted basis, according to data released today by the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED). In addition, state total nonfarm employment for March was revised upward from 4,800 new jobs added to 6,800.
The state of Missouri has now added 35,500 new jobs since January 1, 2012.
The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate fell to 7.3 in April, down one tenth of a point from the March figure, and is currently at its lowest level in 40 months. In comparison, the U.S. unemployment rate for April was 8.1 percent.
