DED releases May 2012 job report

JEFFERSON CITY – The state of Missouri’s unemployment rate held steady during the month of May, according to data released today by the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED). The state’s unemployment rate remained at a seasonally-adjusted 7.3 percent, a 41-month low.
Missouri’s unemployment rate continues to be significantly lower than the national rate. During the month of May, the U.S. rate increased to 8.2 percent.
Total non-farm payroll employment fell by 7,300 in Missouri during the month of May. Through the first five months of 2012 the state has added 24,700 new jobs.
