Missouri Employer Committee (MEC) The Missouri Employer Committee (MEC) is a network of employers interested in HR-related issues. There is one State Steering committee and 32 local committees that are located across the State of Missouri. This involves nearly 5,000 employers statewide.
The local committees evaluate services on a local level, giving guidance and direction to local One-Stop Missouri Career Centers. Local MECs are an excellent resource for local businesses to network and obtain important information on subjects, such as Unemployment Insurance, Workers' Compensation, training assistance and tax credits.
The State Steering Committee serves as an advisory board for the Department of Economic Development, Division of Workforce Development and the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. The Steering Committee, comprised of volunteer business leaders from a cross section of the state, help identify critical workforce and labor issues, and provide recommendations to strengthen the labor-related and workforce programs.
The Missouri Employer Committe takes the lead to create opportunities, open doors and provide a strong voice for employers. The MEC network is committed to improving the state's response to workforce needs, increasing business awareness of workforce and labor-related issues, investing in Missouri's economic growth and educating businesses about state services and programs. Recommendations from the MEC can contribute greatly to improving government services to Missouri businesses, making this a standard on an employer-driven workforce.
