Application Process

Steps to apply for a merit division:

  • Request an official application from the Office of Administration, Division of Personnel, at 573-751-4162.

  • File official application form with the Division of Personnel, Room 430 Truman Building, P.O. Box 388, Jefferson City, MO 65102. Telephone: 573-751-4162 TDD: 573-526-4488

  • Take merit examination. The examination may be written or oral skill test, an evaluation of education and experience, or any combination of these types. (You will be notified of the date, time, place and type of examination.)

  • After passing the examination, your name will be added to the merit register.

  • As vacancies occur, you will be invited to appear for an interview if your examination rating places you among the highest on the register.

  • Following interviews, selections are made from the top available applicants on the register.
