Missouri’s exports for 2007 were up 5 percent compared to 2006 according to World Institute for Strategic Economic Research (WISER).
Through the end of December 2007, exports by Missouri companies totaled $13.4 billion, compared to $12.8 billion in 2006.
Fifteen Missouri product categories each topped $100 million in export sales through the end of 2007, including transportation equipment ($4.7 billion), chemicals ($2.0 billion), machinery ($1.1 billion), food and kindred products ($722 million), electrical equipment ($696 million), agricultural products ($601 million), computer and electronic products ($523 million), fabricated metal products ($428 million), minerals and ores ($416 million), primary metal manufacturing ($328 million), waste and scrap ($289 million), plastics and rubber ($242 million), printing, publishing and similar products ($207 million), miscellaneous manufactured ($170 million), and leather and allied products ($161 million).
Thirteen of Missouri’s top fifteen export product categories increased global sales in 2007. Agricultural products (+125 percent), Minerals and Ores (+19 percent), Electrical Equipment (+18 percent), and Primary Metal manufacturing (+14 percent) led the way in increased product sales. Top product areas with decreases were Waste and Scrap (-20 percent) and Transportation Equipment (-6 percent).
Missouri's top ten export recipients during the year included Canada, Mexico, South Korea, China, Japan, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, and Australia. These ten countries accounted for 80 percent of the state's export revenues. Brazil is new to Missouri's top ten replacing Netherlands from the previous year's list.

Canada imported nearly $5 billion worth of Missouri goods in 2007, an increase of three percent from 2006, while Mexico’s $1.35 billion was a 9.3 percent gain. Exports to Brazil represent a 62 percent increase over 2006, the largest increase within the top ten. Missouri’s exports to South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia declined from 2006 to 2007.
