KANSAS CITY— Clockwork Architecture + Design, a Kansas City-based firm, will be expanding their operations locally. The expansion project includes a $1,035,800 capital investment and is expected to create eight new jobs.

“Clockwork Architecture + Design’s announcement today is just the latest example of how Missouri’s business-friendly climate helps companies grow and succeed,” said Mike Downing, Acting Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “We’re thrilled that Clockwork has chosen to invest in Kansas City, create good jobs, and support the local community, and we’re proud to support a company that embodies the innovative spirit of Missouri entrepreneurs.”

Founded in 2004, Clockwork Architecture + Design is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in Kansas City. The company offers a wide range of design services including residential and commercial architecture and interior, graphic, web, and industrial design. Clockwork has a growing client base and is breaking into new markets in other cities. To accommodate for its expanding portfolio of clients, the company is doubling the size of their current office space and hiring eight new architects.

“It’s refreshing and exciting to see the community’s positive response to our business model. Our goal is to produce an heirloom quality design for each client, while also meeting their schedule and budget targets,” said Neil Sommers, co-founder of Clockwork Architecture + Design. “Being located in Missouri, we have greater access to diverse economic resources that allow our company to grow and thrive, and we’re very thankful for the support we’ve received from our state and local partners.”

“Clockwork Architecture + Design’s expansion announcement shows that Kansas City’s creative economy is vibrant,” said Mayor Sly James. “I’m thrilled to see this firm is not only growing, but significantly increasing its workforce right here in our community.”

To assist Clockwork Architects + Design with its expansion, the Department of Economic Development, the City of Kansas City, and the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City have authorized a strategic economic incentive package that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation and investment criteria.
